How to choose a Twirling or Majorette baton?
Choosing your twirling or majorette baton should not be taken lightly. It should not be too long or too short. This is not always easy, especially when you are new to the discipline.
For the beginner twirler or majorette, the first important choice to make is that of their baton. Choosing the right size baton allows them to learn how to manage it correctly.
Determining the correct length of your baton.
To determine the perfect length, you need to place the baton under your armpit and extend your arm forward. The dimension of the baton is measured from the inside of the arm, from the armpit to the fingertips. An additional 5 centimeters is necessary to have a perfect dimension.
Please note that some majorettes prefer to work with a smaller baton. Contact your club before ordering.
Which model to choose?
9mm: These batons have a medium diameter. They will therefore be practical for rolls, throws, and handling.
11 mm: These are the champions' batons! A larger diameter for a good grip and more stability in throws and rolls. Its diameter and lightness make it a bestseller for twirlers. Some clubs also choose this baton for children from a young age, so that they learn the correct hand positioning on the shaft from the start.
To conclude:
You now know how to choose your baton and the size you need. All that's left is to go and order your baton and start your journey as a twirler or majorette.
